Who is
Dave Richardson?
In Memoriam:
On July 5th, 2020, we lost David Richardson, a blossoming coach and DZ community leader.
Dave discovered skydiving in 2014. It was then he found his soul family, at the Ranch
in Gardiner, NY. It was there he pushed himself as an athlete and a teacher. It was there
he fell in love with Basak.
Dave had many things: a degree in IT, mad water polo skills, and a booming laugh that
always helped people find their way to him. He was a unique and magnetic man, with
a deep desire to explore his intellect and the intellect of others. Dave traveled around
the U.S. in a converted Marriott bus, then adopted new teaching and learning styles to
ultimately thrive as a coach and mentor.
He had a strong connection with his niece and nephews (who loved watching him spin
fire!), and a deep admiration for his mom, often speaking of her time as a stage actor.
(Her British accent was “the best!”). He was so very much in love with his wife, Basak,
and his sky family, settling into a life full of love and friendship. Anyone who knew him
knows, without question, that it was the love and trust of his beautiful Basak that allowed
him the courage to love and trust himself.
Everyone developed their own special relationship with Dave. He was a teacher, a
student, a friend, a thinker, a son, a brother, and a husband. He was dynamic, unique,
and powerful. Our memories are sweet little glimpses into the many relationships he
created.
Darkness always seems so much heavier when the brightest lights go out. But these
memories are so full of his beauty and light, we hope they’ll eventually be sources of
comfort and happiness.
We miss him very much. “We” being every individual who has ever loved him or experienced his
brilliant mind, soft heart, and infectious laugh.
“We” are his soul Family.
“Love Ya, Bud”
